Lean manufacturing training aims to build the ability to see waste, improve flow and establish a culture of continuous improvement. But not every training delivers the same result; content and method make the difference.

What should the training content cover?

A good lean manufacturing training covers lean thinking and the 7+1 wastes, 5S, value stream mapping, standard work, kanban and pull systems, SMED, problem solving (A3, 5 Whys), TPM and kaizen.

Who should attend?

Top management should attend for a lean perspective and ownership, middle managers and leaders for implementation, and operators for daily improvement. Content should be adapted to the target audience.

Classroom or shop floor?

Lean is a discipline learned by doing. Classroom training alone is not enough; programs that include simulation games and practice on a real factory floor deliver lasting results.

Duration and follow-up

Training duration can range from a one-day awareness session to hands-on programs lasting weeks. Without post-training coaching and a pilot project, it is hard for knowledge to take root on the shop floor.
