A shop floor manager and Kaizen Specialist who took on Taiichi Ohno's Kaizen Leadership role, raised in the Kaizen philosophy and devoted his life to working according to Ohno's Principles.
Having applied kaizen on the shop floor in different cultures, from Japan to China, from China to the Philippines and then Turkey, he has guided the development of many sector-leading companies and developed their top management.
Yamazaki Tetsuya reviewing production data on the shop floor.
From the Toyota Boshoku years: a training session with the shop floor team.
The Great Wall Motor Company period in China: with the team on the factory floor.
By sharing the production floor management experience he gained in different sectors with company managers on the shop floor, he practically teaches kaizen and factory management within daily activities. Emphasizing the importance of the shop floor management approach from the moment a problem is identified, he shows that Kaizen is a daily management tool.
Together with top management, he sets strategic goals for a company structure and planning that can challenge its competitors. He ensures the organization needed to reflect strategies to the shop floor is built and creates the implementation plan. To bring the strategies to life, he puts TPS practices into operation together with top management.
The most important resource is people, and training is the first step of resource management. Yamazaki explains Lean, which is truly a way of thinking, through his own experience and outlook on life; he conveys with examples the kaizen topics that focus on cost and provide a real cost advantage. These programs can be organized both company-specific and open to general participation.
He served as Production Manager of the Kariya Plant in 1997, General Manager of the Oguchi Plant in 2002 and President of Toyota Boshoku Turkey in 2009. He is an expert in automotive parts manufacturing and production efficiency.
After joining the company he was introduced to the Toyota Production System (TPS) through direct training from Taiichi Ohno, known as the founder of TPS. Ten years later he began guiding Toyota's suppliers. From Ohno San he remembers the lessons on doing kaizen and developing people: how he twitched his mustache when angry and kicked apart excess inventory, and his saying "If people are not developed, the company cannot develop itself."
YAMAZAKI, a manager raised in the Gemba, believes in "developing people and managing the company through the TPS way", and his guiding principle is SIMPLE, SPEED, SHUUNEN.
Still serving as CEO of a private company in the automotive sector, YAMAZAKI supports Gemba Partner Lean Management Consulting on TPS Seminars and Training.
